St Paul, Minnesota --- April 30, 2008 Basic Law of Biology Neglected The author of the book “How Old Is the House” reports that a basic concept of biology is generally ignored when teaching science and biology. It is the “Law of Reproduction.” This law can be verified easily in a science laboratory or by a field trip to a farm. The law is simply that all species reproduce only their own kind. It applies to all forms of life including all vegetation, insects, animals, and man. While variations within a single species is commonplace, there are no known instances where any species has been able to produce a different one, and examples of species reproducing only their own can be demonstrated with 100 percent repeatability. This is how laws are proven – by conducting experiments to verify that they are true. Newer encyclopedias and textbooks do not seem to stress this basic fact about biology. Actually, many references do not mention it at all. A simple example is the growing of corn. Billions of bushels of corn are produced every year, and all corn kernels are of the same species. Any one of them, when planted, produces another cornstalk with ears of the same species we know as corn. There have never been any instances of any other plant growing from a kernel of corn. The same law is observed with all other farm crops and, in fact, all forms of life. During the past 5,000 years for which written records are available, there are no documented reports of any new species of life that have ever been observed to have formed from any other species. The author's book, “How Old Is the House” also discusses many of our current popular controversies including evolution, intelligent design, the age of the Universe, global warming etc. Readers are given the facts supporting the various positions on these controversies so that they can form their own opinions.
