The Author: Royal T. McArdell (Roy) and his wife, Lois are long time residents of St Paul, Minnesota. Roy has a degree in Electrical Engineering and is a former military instructor, teacher at The Milwaukee School of Engineering and lecturer. He was a computer systems designer and manager at Univac for a number of years and holds several patents on the design of computers. He was the company expert on queuing theory (related to statistical mathematics) and wrote several technical articles on the subject. He also gave numerous talks on the uses of computers. Roy also was one of the founders of a computer company, Comten, Inc., later acquired by NCR, where he served in a variety of management positions for a number of years before retiring. In addition to being an author, he is currently involved in real estate appraisal and consulting activities.
